What can make photos from a digital camera grainy?
I have a 7.2 megapixel Canon EX-Z750 digital camera.
I’m not an amazing photographer, but I don’t understand why almost every photo I take, inside and outside, turns out to be grainy? Is there a focus feature that I’m not aware of? When I look at the photos on the camera screen they look really good, it’s only when I put them onto a computer that they turn grainy (though I’m guessing the enlarging does that).
The camera was bought in 2005 and I know it’s old but it can’t be THAT bad, can it?

The big culprit in graininess/noise is the ISO. The higher the ISO setting, the more noise that is apparent. Some cameras are better than others when dealing with noise, yours is not one of them.
