There should be a symbol on your camera that looks like a film camera. two round film cans on top, a lens underneath…
Depending on the model you could get sound, maybe not.
The footage usually imports as an mov file (at least on my mac) but you should be able to use moviemaker on a PC or imovie on a mac to edit it down…
