Help with buying a digital camera?
I would like one with about 8-10 MP and a high shutter speed (7-10 FPS.) I would like for it to be in the $400- $500. I have looked at the SP-560UZ and other cameras in that series, but i have read that they have a slow auto focus. Any suggestions?
Shutter speed is different than FPS (frames per second).
Shutter speed is how fast the shutter closes to capture the image when taking a photo. Shutter speed depends completely on what type of photo you wish to take. Night time photos will require slower shutter speed, while daytime photos of something like race cars will require a very fast shutter speed.
FPS is how many frames are in each second of video. 30FPS would be the lowest for a smooth video. Some offer more FPS so you can slow the video down without the video becoming choppy. 7-10 FPS is going to look like a really bad choppy video, even worse than a cellphone camera which generally records at 15FPS
You can probably get a good 10MP point and shoot camera for $300. That would be good for somebody just making videos of friends or family and taking pictures non professionally.
If you want a DLSR you will be looking at a base price of $500 plus hundreds of dollars for lenses and other things.
Other things you may wish to check out is the Optical zoom. Get the highest OPTICAL zoom. The base on point and shoot cameras is generally 3x. Don’t fall for Digital zoom, its a scam. All digital zoom is is stretching the image which reduces photo quality.
