The Panasonic LX5 is a special compact digital camera offering photo enthusiasts the perfect way for capturing professional-quality images and High Definition (HD) video. With an ultra-bright F2.0 ultra-wide-angle 24mm Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens, the Lumix LX5 minimizes image distortion, resulting in lovely, true-to-life images with excellent resolution and detail.
The Lumix LX5 has also been redesigned externally–with a thicker grip making it easier to hold and also a newly-incorporated turn-and-push jog dial achieves many various collection and setting more quickly. In movie recording, the Panasonic Lumix LX5 goes improved than quite simply recording HD movies. Apart from the movie recording capability of standard digital compact cameras, the DMC-LX5 also includes a Creative Movie mode, which lets the user set the shutter speed and aperture manually to generate even more impressive movies. Changing the shutter speed brings special effects to movies, which is very suitable for shooting fast-moving subject. The ability to control the aperture is convenient when there are many subjects at multiple distances and it is desired to have each of them stand out. My Color mode is commonly available in movie recording.

FANTASTIC CAMERA
I have worked with kind of a few high-end point-and-shoot cameras over the course of a few years. This camera I feel I can give lacking hesitation 5 stars. I have nothing poor to say about the LX5. I am reviewing this camera from a layman’s point-of-view and not a professional’s. I am sure a pro will find faults.
This is what I see. The Leica lens inside the Panasoni LX5 seems to provide much sharper images than the Canon S90 and G11. Strangely, the photographs also seem sharper than my Sony Nex 5. Actually, occasionally, the Nex 5′s photos seemed disappointly soft in comparison. LX5 colors are perfectly saturated but not too much – just enough to make the image pop. White balance seems right on most of the time.
I recently got photos in the dark of amusement rides at a local fair. I in comparison the Lumix LX5 photos with types I took last year with the Sony WX1 and what a difference! The LX5 on iA produced sharp, bright photos with no noise vs. the WX1, which even with hand-held-twilight, had softer and more washed-out images but also without noise. (Of course, there is a big difference in camera prices, and the WX1 is still a decent camera.)
I also compared the LX5′ s AVCHD video mono using a camera that takes 1080i with stereo. The LX5′s color seemed more natural (no bluish tinge) and also mono, I feel, could have sounded better than the stereo of the other camera which lacked a deeper base.
The Panasonic Lumix LX5 allows many adjustments the photographer could make in both stills and video to fit his/her taste. The creativity is there aided by the LX5.
More expensive than the common point-and shoot but worthwhile for the excellent photo quality!
