So many “SD” digital memory cards for my camera? Which one to buy? !?
Just bought a Canon S-5 IS…want to buy at least a 2GB card (maybe a 4GB)….anways: So many brands, so many “transfer rates” etc… I don’t need a high-power (and High-DOLLAR) one….I’m not gonna be chasing movie stars or anything….but I do want a decent one…for the money. Any suggestions? Is SanDisc better than Kingston etc?? What should I look for?? HELP !
The S5 IS features Canon’s latest Digic III processor, so you will want a reasonably fast card for optimum camera performance (especially when recording high quality movies). I would recommend Sandisk as a very reliable brand. Extreme III is my pick (and it’s the card most often used in camera review tests). The S5 IS is fully compatible with SDHC (high capacity SD) cards of 4GB and up.
You definitely don’t want to be using the standard speed Sandisk (blue) card…because your camera will struggle.
Each 2GB will allow approx. 550 high quality (Superfine/Large) images…and 16 minutes of high quality movies (640×480 @ 30 fps).
Don’t forget to format your card before you use it…and when you want to delete ALL images from the card.
