Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5, An Awesome Compact Camera With The Best Value
As the other reviewers have said, it really depends on your expectations. I’ve owned a bunch of more expensive digital point and shoots (Ricoh GRMS Digital, GRD II, Sigma DP1, DP1x) and even though they all have great, fun attributes, they all suffer from too much noise when you are above 200 ISO. Sure, you can process the noise but with a sensor this size you really can’t afford to quit much detail. With its incredible number of possible choices I was surprised how easy the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 10.1 MP Digital Camera is to apply (fortunate, as the missing manual relating to the DVD isn’t great, especially in its description of the various “intelligent” features). The displays are clever and really well thought out.

Turning to the image quality, it seems as good as you possibly can get in a camera this dimensions. The LX5 does seem to deemed a little better at dealing with high contrast scenes than other comparable video cameras. Other than that, it’s quite good roughly ISO 200 but to my vision, things go south pretty quick for 400 and above. Yes, it’s the price you pay for something this brightness and small but let’s not kid ourselves within the limitations of tiny sensors. If you are able to live with ISO 200 or just don’t like to carry anything bigger, this is usually the one to get, for now at the very least. The lens is also quite great for a zoom that goes from great angle to short telephoto. Not startlingly, stopping down helps a lot, especially from the 24mm end.
I’ve noticed an helpful phenomenon. People love checking out this LX5. The LCD looks cool professionals who log in show them cool stuff like your stitching overlay. If it’s possible to like using a camera much more than the results it produces, put me because category.
With so many people complaining bitterly to the lens cap, I figure I’m eligible for something equally silly. The battery charger displays a green light when you first start charging. This light goes out when charging is complete but this will have to be the only charger I’ve ever noticed where green means “not ready”.
And so, depending on what you are examining it to, and what you are able to carry, the LX5 can be anything from the best camera you’ve ever owned with a camera that’s good to have when you should have a camera with you.
