a digital camera that can focus well?
Do you guys know any digital cameras that can focus well? I currently have the Canon PowerShot SD500. The quality is super fine, I love it, but one thing I hate about it, is when i try to take close up pictures, and no matter what I try, it just won’t focus! e.g: I will be taking a picture of a flower, I would want the focus on the flower, and the backgrounds blurry. Sorta like those professional pictures?
So, do you guys have any suggestions? Bonus if the camera can also focus when taking videos (:
The main reason your close-ups are blurry is because you have the lens too close to your subject and the camera has difficulty focusing.
Have you actually tried using the Macro feature on your camera? (it’s the button with the flower icon). This option is specifically designed for close-ups.
If you think you need a new camera, make sure you get one with full manual controls, so you will be able to adjust your aperture, so you can control your depth of field (DOF). If you don’t know what this is, then you need to find out what it is (do a simple search).
However, for high quality images with good control over your depth of field, you really will need a dSLR camera with appropriate lens and for good Macro shots you will need a dedicated Macro lens.
p.s. Most compact cameras cannot auto-focus while recording a video. Buy a camcorder…
