Looking for the best ultra zoom digital camera… Please help

Hi! I am in the market for an ultra zoom digital camera, and I’ve been searching for few months now, but now I am more confused than before I started… I finally decided to ask for some help… Here are the models that I am choosing between, but I am open minded for proposals:
1. Sony DSC-H5
2. Canon S3 IS
3. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7
(4. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30) – this one is a little over my budget, although I was able to find it for 450$ new. It also seems to be really huge and I am not sure I really need something like that…
In general the most important thing for me is the Image Stabilization, and Picture quality.

The Panasonics are a waste of a good lens in front of a bad sensor (“unquote”) and seem to have real problems with noise artifact.
This leaves the Sony and Canon. The Canon uses 4 “AA” batteries instead of 2, so maybe you won’t run out of juice as often. The Sony LCD is bigger, but the Canon LCD pops out and swivels, which opens up a lot of photographic opportunities.
Read the reviews and some comments and decide what matches up to your needs the best and choose between the Canon and Sony.
My adult daughter has a Canon S2 IS and just loves the camera, to add a personal spin to this answer.
