What setting should I use to reduce “grainy” images when taking pictures with my digital camera?
I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 and I noticed that most pictures (in doors most of the time) come out grainy.
What is the most optimal setting to prevent this?
Here is a list of specifications for this camera:

Are you using a auto high sensitivity setting? Make sure you use the DIS (digital image stabilization) mode with this or use a tripod… high sensitivity settings can raise the ISO setting too high. Are you using a flash indoors? My advice is to use a lower ISO setting. Higher ISO settings commonly produce more “noise” or grainy effects. Using zoom also changes your settings, which can produce grainy shots, so use the correct focus settings when using zoom. To compensate for a lower (ISO) light sensitivity, you can decrease your shutter speed, but you’ll have to hold the camera steady longer (or use a tripod) for the image to be captured without blur. Try ISO400 with f2.8 and shutter speed of 1/30 or 1/60, using a flash indoors. ISO400 with f2.8 and shutter speed of .5 sec, with flash turned off in a room with light. If you must use ISO800 use with f2.8 and shutter speed of 1/20, and set exposure compensation to -1.0, use this setting without flash. Keep changing your settings, then review your meta data for each photo in review mode. You will see a difference in each photo, so you can pick the settings that worked for your camera in the given environment. ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING…low battery power can cause grainy photos in any setting! Be sure you recharge your batteries…
