Extreme sports fans loved the quality and versatility of Oregon Scientific’s ATC2K and ATC3K helmet cams- now, the same manufacturer brings us their new and improved model, the innovative and fun ATC5K Action Camera. Like its precursors, this is a nifty piece of kit designed to enable extreme sport enthusiasts, whatever their sport, to record their exploits digitally and download the results to PC, MAC or television. Waterproof up to 3m and shock-resistant, the ATC 5K Action Camera is ideal for capturing a range of activities including mountain biking, diving, winter sports and sky diving.
It can also be attached to almost any item of equipment thanks to the various straps and mounts which are provided, so you can forget it’s there and just leave it to do its thing. Also included is a head strap made from flexible and adjustable silicon, suction mounts for polished surfaces, and the unit even doubles as a webcam thanks to the mini tripod which comes with the package. The ATC 5000 Helmet Cam still offers us over two hours’ recording with the ability to accept a 4GB SD card. It’s still compact, lightweight and incredibly tough, measuring a mere 11cm in length and weighing in at 260g. The ATC 5000 Camera is incredibly simple to use, offering one-touch recording and effortless download. The ATC 5000 Helmet Cam offers a number of new facilities which were not available in previous models.
Whereas the earlier models came in a fairly nondescript black, this new version has had a makeover and is now resplendent in electric blue. The ATC5K can also now be used as a regular camera, with the ability to capture still images, and its wider angle lens ensures footage is of the highest possible quality. The ATC5K also now comes fitted with a 1.5” LCD view screen which offers an instant playback facility and allows the camera to be positioned precisely to capture the best angles; and with a remote control recording feature, which offers seamless operation without the need to start and stop at inconvenient moments. Whether filming in high or low resolution, or somewhere in the middle, you can expect at least 5 hours of battery life from the high-power Li-Ion batteries supplied with the ATC5K.
