What is the best digital camera for me?
I am a photography major who finds that needs must, I need a digital camera. Since I will be a print media photographer, this is not for school, but for many other purposes, including digital manipulation. I am interested in something small and lightweight, very user-friendly, with the ability to be a point and shoot camera. I am not a technology friendly person, and invest the vast majority of my money in new lenses and film developing for my film camera. Any suggestions?
I’m a little confused. Do you already own an SLR? If so, I take it that it’s a film SLR?
If you already have an SLR than I take it you’re looking for a small point-and-shoot? What do you care more about – control or convenience? If you’re looking for convenience then I might suggest the Canon Powershot SD line of cameras. I have the SD1000 and I carry it in my pocket everywhere I go. If you’re looking for control I’d look more along the lines of the Canon G9.
Something else you may want to consider is that if you do have a film SLR, you may be able to get a cheap DSLR body and use your lenses on it. For example the newer canon film SLRs use the same EF mount that the DSLRs use. If you do have a film SLR, what brand is it?
