Can I store my digital camera in my car even on hot days?
I know it’s not good for film type cameras but what about my digital?
I realize it must be out of site to deter theft. I’m planing to use the trunk.
You should be OK as long as you don’t live someplace that is extraordinarly hot, such as a desert climate. There’s no film to ruin in digital camera, so you’re good on that. Press photographers keep lots of gear in automobile trunks without a problem from heat, although numerous cycles of heating and cooling can shorten the life of your battery, but it’s not enough to get worked up about.
Check your camera’s manual to find the range of temperature it will tolerate. It might be worth it to buy a cheap thermometer and stick it in your trunk while the car is parked in the sun. See how hot it gets in the trunk. If it’s way above your camera’s maximum operating temp, you might want to think twice.
