Why won’t certain video files play with sound?
I have a lot of videos on my computer, either downloaded from iTunes or ones that transferred to my PC from a digital camera. The problem is that now certain files won’t play with sound anymore. At first I thought that ALL the sound was gone from my computer, but my mp3′s still work and so do plug-ins, as well as all the generic system sounds (like Windows startup). These videos with no sound used to have sound before, so I know that they aren’t bad downloads or corrupted files. I’m guessing it has something to do with codecs or a corrupt driver, but I’m not sure where to start. And it doesn’t seem to affect just one type of file either, such as .wmv or .avi, etc. The files that are affected almost seemed to be picked at random, but it’s those specific videos that won’t have sound no matter what program I use. Anybody have an idea?
Yeah, it’s probably a codec. I would recommend that you download Shark007 codec. It’s the best video codec for windows I could find. So far there was no movie I couldn’t play.
