What is a good – cheap digital camera to buy for my girlfriend?
I am trying to buy a digital camera for my girlfriend (simple point and shoot). She requested it be in pink if I get her one – so am looking for one of those. Also – I know she used to love recording video on her old camera… so I am looking for one that shoots decent video (and longer than just for 10 seconds). Any suggestions?

Based on your requirements, the camera your girlfriend wants is the Kodak EasyShare M1093 IS ($129). If you really want to score points with her, you might want to bump up your price range and land the Samsung DualView TL225 for her (In addition to the rear LCD, there’s also a second, smaller one on the front for taking those portrait shots girls love to take. Starts at $349.)
Back to the EasyShare: it’s offered in black, silver and red (which is more of a hot pink), and it records HD video. Other “girlie” features she’ll enjoy are its slim design (making it easy to slip into a purse or pocket), the Share button for tagging photos, its Smart Capture mode, and its easy-to-use buttons. Other features include 10MP, 3x digital zoom, optical and electronic image stabilization, a 3” LCD that you can actually view in sunlight, and 5-zone autofocus.
For the price, the EasyShare M1093 takes surprisingly great pics in nicely lit environments, but it struggles with low-light situations. The time from initial power-up to first shot is a bit slow (2.8 seconds), but shot-to-shot times are decent at 1.4 seconds with the flash.
While the EasyShare M1093 is the camera you should get your girlfriend, if you’re up for some fun, you could get her the Fujifilm Instax Mini 7S Camera for $80; it’s not digital and it doesn’t capture video, but it is an instant camera that prints credit-card size pictures.
