How do you know how quick (delay time) a digital camera takes to shoots a picture?
My digital camera shoots the picture long after I press the button. The pictures I end up with look nothing like the shots I thought I took. Some were even of the ground!!!
What metric do the manufactures use to measure this delay time. I seriously need to upgrade my “old” camera equipment.

You can find charts of shutter lag, start-up times, etc., on http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/ Drop down the menu once you’ve found your camera and choose the “Timings and Sizes” page. There is quite a bit of data for most cameras.
