I want a “photo shoot” esque camera..?
I’m starting a business and I want to be able to take very professional pictures to display online. What type of camera should I buy? I’m trying to stay under $1,000 preferably under $800. I’m a first time ‘professional camera’ owner. The digital camera I have now is a Cybershot DSC-W5 5.1 MPX and I know this is not going to work for what I need. Thanks, I promise to give best answer.
The previous answer is partially right. Even the best equipment won’t necessarily guarantee good photos. There’s a lot to learn about photography in order to consistently produce good photos. Do some research on “aperture”, “shutter speed”, “ISO”, and “white balance” as a starting point.
As for the camera, a point-and-shoot can get the job done, as the previous person pointed out. But I think what you’re after is a Digital SLR (single lens reflex) camera. Nikon and Canon make solid DSLRs.
I shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel XT. It’s a good beginning DSLR and is a consumer favorite. I think you’d be happy with it.
The next thing you’ll need to focus on is the lens (pun intended). You can get a “normal” lens with has around a 60mm zoom range, or a wide angle lens (around 17-35mm) or a telephoto (around 70-200mm). Those three types of lenses are standard among SLR photographers. Each of them have advantages for different purposes.
