Do You Need The Largest Memory Card Available For Your Camera
A lot of people fork out big money on memory cards that store a lot of data on them. Some people end up with memory cards that can store as much as 16 GB; that’s at least 12,000 photos. I know that people like to take pictures but surely a bit excessive. Below I have listed the reasons why I think people should not buy memory cards of this size.
The Disadvantage Of Having A Memory Card With A Large Memory.
One of the main pros of having a large capacity memory card is that we may feel that it is the perfect place to store data. This may sound like a bad idea but I have had an experience which gives me reason to believe that this is not always the best choice for storing your data. A few months back I lost all of the data from my memory card and this included over three year’s worth of photos; thousands of them. I went to a number of data retrieval experts thinking they could help but none of them could do anything to get my photos back. I have since found out that this is something that happens quite often and the main reason is because these memory cards are not meant to be used to store things long term.
So now I only use a 1GB memory card as it is enough for my photos for any one occasion and it means that I have to transfer them before I can use it again. It is also cheaper for me to use a memory card this size. And if the only thing you use your camera for is taking still photos then this size is perfect because it means that you have to take your photos off the card on a regular basis. But if you are taking video clips with your camera you may need a slightly bigger memory card.
Memory card readers are items found in a lot of things in today’s day and age. 4GB Micro SD cards can give you a great example of a memory card. Yet another that you can find widely available is the compact flash.
