SD is one of the many types of memory cards digital cameras use. SD stands for SecureDisk. The other common format is CompactFlash. SD is common because of its small size compared to CompactFlash.
When purchasing SD, make sure you purchase the right type of SD. There is microSD, miniSD, and SD. SD is used for most cameras. miniSD is used for mp3 players. microSD is used for cell phones.
As for brands, I would stick with name brands as they are more reliable and faster. Kingston and Sandisk are good brands. Newegg.com provides great bargains for SD cards. If you are not into online, then look for deals at CircuitCity, Fry’s and Best Buy.
