Features to Look for in a Digital Camera
Since Christmas isn’t far away the time is here once again to start to think about gift buying. Digital cameras will be a favourite gift item as their prices have fallen dramatically in recent years. But what are the features to look out for when shopping for a digital camera?
You probably already know that a good quality lens is as important in a digital camera as it is in an analogue one. You are probably also aware of megapixels and how the higher the number means a crisper image.
But what about image stabilization technology. This is the clever way that modern cameras can compensate for low light conditions, where higher exposure times are needed, and wobbly hands.
Another useful feature is auto face detection with auto focus. Facial recognition technology enables a camera to focus sharply on a face making it ideal for point and shoot photographers. Ideal for anyone who likes a point and click camera.
A good zoom is another excellent feature. Some cameras have a digital zoom and others have an optical. Optical is generally much sharper than digital zoom which will simply make the digital image larger and more grainy.
Another factor to consider is battery life. I recommend selecting a camera that uses rechargeble batteries.
Look out for additional features like the ability to change lenses, image effects and built in image editing capabilities.
It’s also worth looking at the software applications that come bundled with the package. Most digital cameras are supplied with a suite of applications to download, process and edit digital images.
Something extra to consider when buying a new camera is some affordable camera insurance. Modern, lightweight digital cameras are easily lost or damaged so its worth making certain you can get a replacement quickly and without any fuss.
In addition you may like to consider gadget insurance to protect valuable portable devices including laptop insurance for valuable laptop computers.
