How good is a 10-megapixel digital camera?
How good is a 10-megapixel digital camera in taking pre-nuptial photos? What’s the difference between a 10-megapixel digicam and a 10-mp DSLR?
Cramming 10 or 12 megapixels into the TINY sensor on one of those compact P&S cameras is a very bad idea.
The more pixels you force together, the more problems (such as digital noise) it creates.
Some people seem to think megapixels is the be all and end all of camera quality, but that is very wrong.
Any more than 5 or 6 in such a tiny sensor only causes grief.
If you want better quality, you need to get a bigger camera with a bigger sensor.
The most important difference between a P&S and a DSLR is the size of the sensor – suddenly the same number of pixels looks SO much clearer! They also have much bigger lenses, i.e. better optics.
Yes, the person BEHIND the lens makes the biggest difference, but in the very same hands, a 6MP DSLR will outperform a 12 MP Point and Shoot camera every time.
