Can you use a vivitar Tele-Zoom 85mm-205mm lens on a Nikon D1x?

i was going to buy this lens on ebay but it doesnt say anything about what camera it fits and works with and i asked him if it would work and he said:

the only reason im worried is because i never used a film lens on a Digital slr and i dont want to mess up my nikon if its one of those non Ai lenses
The only way to tell is to find out whether it was made for use on Nikon cameras. Ask the seller what camera he used it on. If you don’t trust him don’t buy it. There are plenty of old Nikon lenses available.
