what should i look for in a camera for a concert?
i want a compact camera, point and shoot.
what specs should i pay most attention to?
The one i took to one last night was 14.1 MP, HD video (debatable but it was in a dark arena i guess)

That probably won’t due mostly due to the nature of what it is. A compact model that is rather cheap and as a small sensor. Smaller sensors with allot of megapixels means MORE NOISE
The equipment that works best at concerts is DSLR’s with nice big sensors that can handle the TERRIBLE light conditions, really light conditions are just horrible .. ask any PRO that does that kind of work. It is not easy even with their stuff. And a light strong lens, something that goes nice wide open so much light goes in [because there is very little light]. And even then you might have to push up the ISO…. yeah it is that bad.
Compacts well very few are good enough to make it. Those that might be close to cutting it are big sensor compacts. Many of them have sensors the size of APS-C or fourth third. those are used in DSLR’s….they have little to none zoom!
You can try to use a normal compact with a small sensor to make pictures of concerts expect.. noise images that have very little details. Sorry .. even with the tools the PRO’s have.. it is hard. It is so hard!
The light is so bad at concerts.. seriously!
