i am a producer who is going to make an indie film with this camera
These are consumer grade camcorders and none have manual audio control. I would not bother with any. I would not bother with any hard disc drive camcorder.
If you stay in this price range, then at least move to the Canon HV40. Mic jack and manual audio control.
If you are capturing the audio externally, I would go with the Canon HF S series. Bigger lenses and imaging chip.
