What is meant by body only in digital SLR camera?
Hi,
I was trying to purchase canon digital camera – D40 to my friend.
In the web site it says Canon SLR Digital “Body Only” for $1299. what does that mean ? What it contains ? does that mean it will not included lens ? only body ? or body only nothing in it

It would not have a lens with it. The SLR cameras allow you to switch lenses in and out at will; most have a starter kit that includes a good, generic lens that is fine for everyday situations; then you can add wide angle, etc. as your interest and pocketbook allows.
I would check for a starter kit on the same camera; its not the best lens usually but is decent. I purchased the Canon EOS SLR in both film and digital versions and each came with a lens that I still use as the default.
