Which compact digital camera should I buy?
Hello,
I am about to sell my DSLR as I no longer use it for work and it’s just impractical to carry about all. Also, I no longer have professional insurance on my kit so carrying about large, expensive lenses is always nerve wracking!
I would like to replace it with a good digital compact and I would like to spend no more than £500 (about $1000).
I would like a decent telephoto lens, full manual control, good macro ability and if possible, good low light performance.
I have looked at the Canon G9 and it’s nice but I am not so impressed with shots I have seen from it.
So which camera’s do you recommend?
Which has the biggest sensor?
Which is regarded as the best?
p.s. I have always gone for wither Nikon or Canon but I am open to any brand now.
Try the Canon Powershot A650 IS.
I have one and am impressed, particularly with the macro ability.
It’s 12.1 MP too.
Like most digitals though, the extreme digital zoom is pants.
Very good value for money too, although I don’t know how much they sell for in the UK, but have a look on ebay.
May be worth importing one from over here in the USA.
