Can anyone recommend a good digital camera for taking video at gigs?
Hi – the problem I have here is with the audio quality and to what extent the camera can deal with the typically loud gig environment.
I’ve experimented with a few in the past:
Fuji F700 – used to capture outstanding audio on its video
When that broke: Fuji 900 – absolutely terrible, everything distorted
Now using a Canon PowerShot A650 IS which is somewhere in the middle but not great.
Some people are taking excellent quality audio on their videos with small compact digitals. Any recommendations please?
Maybe you should separate the devices you are using for taking pictures and videos. For instance, if your interested in finding a great video camera, the quality will be much better on a device that is only a video camera.
If you are looking for a good video camera, the Flip Video Camera is great because it is compact and about the size of a cell phone. It is easy to upload your footage onto your computer, and you can even buy one with a customizable outside.
Also, If you’re looking for a good regular camera, I have a Canon PowerShot SD1100, and it not only works well, but also does take videos with sound, even though they are not very good quality.
