which digital SLR camera should i buy? please help?
i am a photography student at uni and i’ve been looking and i just cant decide which one would be best.

NIKON D3000
any other ideas will help?
also iv been serching around and im not sure of where to get it from, amazon, play, jessops, calumet. so ideas there too would help?

What 35 mm SLR have you been using in your basic classes in photography? Buying the body that matches your existing lenses would be the most economical both in investment and your time (Nikon and Canon bodies have button, lever and wheel layouts that are unique to their brands)
If your classes have not included using a film camera and you have NO camera system yet, to this:
Go into a camera shop and see which of the cameras fits your hands the best.
See which cameras menu is the easiest for you to use to make changes in ISO, camera resolution, white balance, mode switching and make EV changes (a camera with +5/-5 EV could be important to you).
Finally, take a SD card with you and test each camera at their highest and lowest ISO as well as when using the white balance that matches the light in the store as well as with it in the “auto white balance” mode.
Once you get home and are able to see the results on your large computer monitor, you will know which camera is better for your needs and expectations, not ours. Then order the camera you need.
Take your time before you decide. Once you choose one, you will be married to that system for decades and the cost of changing to the other system will cost you nearly as much as a divorce
IF you don’t already have the beginnings of a Canon system, look for a Nikon D40 with 18-55 mm. Here in the States a kit like that costs under $400, so you should be able to find it for less than £215 in the UK. Buying the least expensive DSLR while a student will leave you funds to use for either buying a second lens for your beginning system or other important items for uni, like a computer to process your digital images
