I just recently purchased a Cannon Digital SLR?
I just recently purchased a Cannon Rebel XTi Digital SLR, can I use old lenses from my old Cannon AE-1 on this camera? I heard some cameras are compatable, but I have gotten my camera delivered to me yet, so I can’t try it out, so I was just wondering if I will be able to do this?
Canon AE-1 uses the FD mount, so you will not be able to use those lenses on the Digital Rebel XTi. You can only use EF, or EF-S mount lenses on it. Canon had made an adapter, but it has long since been discontinued and is quite rare and expensive if you find one. There are a couple of other companies that have made an adapter, but you only have manual focus (of course) and lose the ability to focus at infinity… plus it may also degrade the image quality.
You are better off buying Autofocus lenses for it anyways.
