Best digital camera for under $300 to play around with for basic photography?
I prefer Canon, that’s what my last one was and i loved it, but the lens got a permanent error and just broke down after a while, so i’m looking to get a new one now. i have around $300 i can use on it, so not enough for a DSLR but ti’s killing me that i can’t take pics right now.
I really like photography, even though i suck at it, but i want a decent camera that will give me more control than just auto so i can actually be a little more prepared when i can get a dslr.
so what’s a good point and shoot to use for a while?
i don’t think i want a cool pix, they seem a bit childish and overrated imo, but i may be wrong.
The best camera for under $300 to learn (play around) basic photography would be either a Nikon or Canon 35 mm SLR. You can find them on craigslist in a city near you for under $150 with a standard lens. You can use the other money in your budget to buy a second lens.
A 35 mm SLR will help prepare you for using a DSLR when you eventually have the budget to buy one. Just make sure the system you buy now matches the one you will want your DSLR to be.
The fastest way to learn how to use a fully adjustable camera is to take at least a class in photography, better a full semester or two to make the technical part of photography intuitive.
The other thing you will need to learn is how to compose your shots.
