A digital SLR camera looks like any normal big digital camera but it’s different in the manner in which it is used. One differentiating feature that stands out is that of clarity without distortion i.e. the user is able to see the image he or she is about to take without being altered by anything within the camera.

This is what you need to understand, when you use a normal digital camera the image you see through the lens is not the original one as it becomes digitally generated so it can be projected on the viewfinder i.e. the lens captures the image and sends it to your eyepiece or LCD through “wires” fitted inside the camera while in a digital SLR camera the image is taken to the viewfinder by mirrors and lenses that reflects the image from one mirror to another.

Here is how it works, it all starts by the light entering the camera through the lens. Inside there is a mirror, which basically picks up the incoming light and reflects it to a condenser lens. From there it goes to a prism (a 5 sided one) and then to the viewfinder. Now as you take a shot with the camerathe mirror will move out of the way to allow the light to land on an image sensor that is behind the mirror.
I am sure now you understand me when I say with a digital SLR camera you see the image exactly as it is.
To go a bit deeper with this let me start by saying that the image is not exactly 100% when you look through the eyepiece. This means you need to check the specs of the camera i.e. how much coverage it has and its brightness. In most cases the coverage of the image is 95% but a naked eye would never be able to spot the difference.
